I was always thin but after the birth of my third child at 35 I began rapidly gaining weight.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  I felt embarrassed I didn’t want to got out as anymore. I quit hanging out with friends and going to events with my husband.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  In October 2018 I went on vacation with my girlfriends, one is a professional photographer who took amazing pictures of us. All I could see was the huge amount of excess weight in had packed on in every picture of myself.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  I came home from our trip and began researching how I was going to make the change. Not after New Years, or my next birthday but now! I found my mentor Casey Durango with Go Keto with Casey and loved to simplicity of the Keto protocol as she had learned it and was passing on to others.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  Results were almost immediate! My bloating quickly diminished and I lost about 16 pounds in the first month which was very motivating.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  My family still eat the way I used to. Sticking to protocol and eating a salad or a steak when everyone else is having french fries was a challenge but I am used to it now and don’t even notice sometimes.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  I did give up! But I got back to basics, went back to weighing and measuring myself regularly and kept motivated by watching videos by people who had been successful.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  Weight loss has definitely slowed over time. I let it get to me and even fell off the wagon and gained back over last summer. But, I tightened my boot straps, restarted on Labor Day and lost it plus more. Plateaus happen !

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  Hard to say as I gained back several pounds and had to restart. But I would estimate 6 months or so.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  Fitting into my jean’s I bought for my honeymoon 10 years ago was exciting!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I was a lazy eater! As a full time working mom life was all about fast food, pizza and take out.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I still do not work out but I notice my activity abilities are improved. Just getting up and down the stairs at home is easier for me.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Drink water! It helps keep you full so you don’t eat unnecessarily.
  2. Make your own food!!
  3. Find a replacement for old favorites so you don’t feel deprived.
