Real Weight Loss Success Stories: Becca’s 40 Pound Weight Loss Transformation

At 17 years old I was in an abusive relationship that made me feel trapped. I suffered from depression and hated everything about myself. I ended up getting pregnant which packed the pounds on further.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  I never wanted to go out with friends or be anywhere that required a bathing suit. It affected every single aspect of my life.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  I finally broke free from the relationship I was in and started to find myself again. It was hard as a single mother but I was ready for a change and ready to be happy again for my daughter and I.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  I started slowly. First I started with my diet, I stopped drinking soda completely. Then no fast food or sugars. I eventually started walking and adding work out videos.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  I started to see results within the first few weeks of my new lifestyle.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  The hardest challenge in this journey was mentally. I always had an excuse why I didn’t need to work out but forced myself to anyways. Or having pizza right in front of you and not being able to eat it.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  I always wanted to give up. I looked at other motivational stories and transformations to keep me going. I bought myself smaller clothes to track my progress because the scales are not a good way to track.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  After a few months into my journey I hit a plateau so I started to incorporate weights and HIIt work outs.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  I can run over a mile without feeling like I’m going to pass out. I have more muscle than I’ve ever had before and I’ve lost inches all around. Not only that but I’m a better mother and happier person now. That is the biggest victory

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I was absolutely an emotional eater. It always made me feel better. But right afterwards I would feel worse. I ate mostly fast food, at least twice a day and way too much soda.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I used to only do cardio but I’ve started to incorporate weights and wow it has definitely changed the game. Lifting helps shape my body.

  1. Meal prep on Sundays. This saves so much time and keeps from binging during the week.
  2. Took my walking shoes to work with me and I would take small walks on my break.
  3. I always give myself one cheat meal a week and a beer to keep my sanity
