Weight Loss Success Story: Persistence Pays Off For Tiesha With 43 Pound Weight Loss

Several years ago after a long term relationship ended.

I became devastated and depressed. I completely loss myself.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  After seeing a photo of myself I realized how badly I’d let myself go.

With time I regained my strength and sense of self worth. (Seriously couldn’t have done it without Jesus.)❤

Slowly I began placing my pieces back together one by one.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  Initially, I started a 21 day food rehab restart challenge
Absolutely No..
-No chocolate
-No candy
-No cookies
-No fast food/carry~out
-No chips
-No white bread
-No soda
-No ice cream
-No cake, donuts or pastries
-No refined, white sugar or corn syrup
-No soda, diet soda or alcoholic beverages
-No store bought juice
-No fried foods

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  Within 2wks I noticed a significant change both physically and mentally. Therefore I decided to stick to it!

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  I found exercising to be the most challenging as I wasn’t in the best of shape. I also didn’t have much of a support system.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  The initial 30days were the hardest! I didn’t see the results I’d hope to see which lead to extreme frustration.

On those days I recalled a “friend” stating “There’s no way you could lose weight! How many times have you tried already?” As she laughed loudly in my face.

I used those very words/moment as motivation.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  After losing 20 pounds I hit a serious plateau. During this particular time photo comparison helped tremendously!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  Within 7-8months I loss 30 pounds.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  Non-scale victories -Having wrist watch resized twice

-No longer having to hold my tummy in to buckle seatbelt. (So embarrassing to admit)

-Being able to sit comfortably in between my siblings. (On the sofa)

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  My current daily intake is completely opposite than when I were heavier.

-I’d now rather have a smoothie v/s iced coffee or donuts for breakfast.

-I’d rather have grilled chicken, mixed veggies and rice for lunch or dinner v/s fried chicken, fries or pizza as it’s not only more filling I don’t feel so gross, uncomfortable or unfilled afterwards. (It’s basically empty calories)

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  Physically, I feel amazing! I’ve gone from huffing and puffing after walking up 10 stairs to being able to run up/down 10 flight of stairs!

  1. Implement daily exercises to your routine.
  2. Meal~prep /keep healthy snacks easily accessible/handy to avoid the temptation and convenience of fast food/snacking.
  3. I’d advice everyone to slowly cut back.. Look at it as a permanent lifestyle change v/s a “diet” as diets tend to be a bit stressful and are a temporary fix.
  4. Love the body you have while working towards the body you wan’t.
  5. Hard work, dedication, commitment, consistency and persistence is key!
