5 Effective Yoga Poses to Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is an adipose tissue which looks lumpy as it pushes against the connective tissue. This makes the skin above it to crumple. One of the best ways to fight this is through yoga and diet.

1. Upward Plank Pose

How to Do:

  • Seat with the legs stretched out in front of you.
  • Bring the hands behind you by 10 inches and make sure that the finger faces forward.
  • Press your hands and feet firmly onto the floor and lift up the hips.
  • Hold this pose for 5-8 breaths and then lower your body down.

Number of Repetitions: Do this 3-5 times holding it for 5-8 breaths.

How it Helps: It can tone the back of your thighs and is great for the hamstring. Generally, cellulite tends to be more prominent in this area.

2. Eagle Pose

How to Do:

  • Bend your knees and cross the left thigh above the right thigh.
  • Allow the foot to stay outside or tap your toes on the floor.
  • Wrap the left arm under the right arm and then press your palms together. 
  • Sit deep and start to squeeze the thighs while you look towards the nose tip.
  • Hold the pose for 5-8 breaths and repeat it with the other side.

Number of Repetitions: Do this 5 times on each side holding the pose for 5-8 breaths.

How it Helps: This is one of the best yoga to fight cellulite. It can also improve focus and concentration.

3. Shoulder Stand Pose

How to Do:

  • Lie down on the back and use the lower abdomen for lifting up the hips over the head in plow pose.
  • Take your hands to clasp it under the back and hike up the shoulder towards the ears for coming off the neck’s back.
  • Bend the elbows while placing the hands on the lower back.
  • Lift the legs to the ceiling and keep the thighs engaged to lengthen the lower back.
  • Keep pressing into elbows strongly.
  • Hold it for 8-10 breaths before coming down through plow.

Number of Repetitions: Do this at least 5 times holding it for 8-10 breaths.

How it Helps: It helps the lymphatic system. This can flush out the toxins and also stimulate the fatty areas of the body to break and then move out.

4. Warrior III Pose

How to Do:

  • Stand with the feet close together and point left toe behind.
  • Tip the weight of the body on the right leg.
  • Keep on lifting the left it is parallel to the floor and in line with the head.
  • Make sure that you drop the head and the torso and place the hands on each side.
  • Hold the position for 5 breaths and return to position slowly.
  • Repeat it with the other leg.

Number of Repetitions: Do this 5 times with each leg holding it for 5 breaths.

How it Helps: It tightens and tones the muscles in the legs and will help in getting rid of cellulite.

5. Chair Pose

How to Do:

  • Stand in mountain pose and bend the knees like you are going to sit on the chair.
  • Lift the chest towards the sky.
  • When you do so, raise the hands and keep the shoulder relaxed while holding in the ab muscles.
  • Sit back as far as possible.
  • Maintain the pose for 5-8 breath before moving back to the standing position.

Number of Repetitions: Do this 10 times holding the pose for 5-8 breaths.

How it Helps: It gets the blood flowing through the legs and can burn the leg fat that causes cellulite.

If you do this yoga regularly for a few minutes, you will be able to fight cellulite in no time.
