I started gaining a lot of weight back when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the age of 23. I was nonfunctional and in a lot of pain which also led to my depression.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? The doctor told me the only way I can help make my fibromyalgia tolerable was to be active and eat right, the only person that was able to help me was myself. There was no magic medication.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I knew I had to get healthier for my chronic pain and i would also be able to take care of my son that I wasn’t able to do. I wasn’t physically happy with myself, I had never been this overweight in my life.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I got started by just simply walking! As time passed by that got easier and I wanted a challenge and that’s when I met my Beachbody coach and did the 21 day fix.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I started seeing results in the first 3 weeks! 3 weeks of exercise and eating right is when I always saw results.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? I was doing all this alone and I was in very bad pain every day of every second. No one understood me and it was hard to eat when I had excruciating digestive issues. I wanted to give up and I was my only person cheering me on to keep going.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? I wanted to give up all the time!! Probably more times than I actually wanted to see results. I never gave up because I knew my son was watching everything I did and he knew his mother was becoming herself again. I always told myself ” if you give up now , you will never know where you could’ve been if you never gave up ”
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Yes, all the time! I hit more plateaus than I can count. I simply just changed my eating and tracking what was in eating and how much of it.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? It took months of dedication! I never gave up but about a year and a half I lost the weight and gained muscle.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? My NSV is lasting longer on my workouts, not being tempted anymore, I also am able to do certain moves in my workouts I was never able to do before.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I eat a lot of more protein, veggies, water. I don’t use oils anymore, no more sweet sugary drinks or candies.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I’m able to move around more so much better, I can go out and feel great about myself.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Never give up, no matter how badly you want to
- Eat right and don’t be afraid to splurge every now and then, have a cheat day.
- When you feel you’ve hit a plateau, don’t worry because right when you wanna quit you’ll break it.
- Don’t base your goals on the scale, it’s all about how much better you feel. If you wanna do it right, throw your scale away.
- Always take progression pictures! Pictures is what says it all, if the scale didn’t move this week don’t worry because the pictures showed you either gained muscle or lost inches. Transformation pictures are very important in this journey.
