HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  It was a downward spiral. I was trying to fix my depression, but being overweight made it a lot harder

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  In March this year my marriage of 10 years ended. I was a single mum of 3 all of a sudden. I was introduced to weights training as a form of therapy and that’s where I found my new lease on life.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  I got myself a personal trainer who had a very good reputation with transforming bodies. This was the best decision I made. He made me feel comfortable in the weights room. It’s sometimes a very daunting place for beginner.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  After about 4 weeks I noticed my jeans getting looser. I was hooked from there.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  Lack of support from friends was hard. All of a sudden I was living a completely different life. No more alcohol or the regular cheese platters and snacky foods with friends. Learning to push past my comfort zone has been tricky too.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  I hit regular plateaus. But being consistent has been the best thing for me. I may not be the hardest worker or the strongest in the room, but consistency always gets me the best results. I would always tweak my diet, increase the cardio or up the weight to shock my body into overcoming the plateaus.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  I started in March and had lost 60lbs by September. Roughly 6 months.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I meal prep now. Every Sunday I cook up chicken breast and veggies. My diet is much higher in protein and a lot lower in carbs.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I am a lot more active now. I no longer feel like sitting down all day watching movies. I am more active with the kids and happier too!
