IFBB Pro bodybuilder Joseph Mackey recently pulled off an 840lbs deadlift single in training. Mackey was preparing for the lift for a while and was able to successfully pull that off. The lift was a part of the training schedule formulated by Jailhouse Strong – a service that offers functional and strength training with a workout system based on the training habits cultivated by prison inmates.

Joseph Mackey executed the 840lbs deadlift using wrist wraps and a lifting belt. While the grind was visible while lifting the bar off the floor, Mackey broke into a wide grin after locking out and made it look incredibly easy before returning the bar to the floor. “The goal has been hit!
840 lbs!!
Once my coach @jailhousestrong sent my workout to do 840 today, I’ve been thinking about every day.
Today I accomplished it and I’m looking forward to hitting 900 next year.
LFG,” Joseph Mackey wrote in the caption to his post.

One week before the 840lbs deadlift, Joseph Mackey dropped a workout video on his Instagram. Mackey added a few light movements on the day after the regular power program. The purpose of these light exercises was to get the blood flowing into his back and prepare his body for the massive deadlift.
