The prize money details for the 2022 CrossFit Games have been revealed following the conclusion of the 2022 CrossFit Open. The CrossFit HQ held a press conference and announced that the prize money for the 2022 CrossFit Games is $2,845,000 across all divisions, which is the highest prize purse in its history. The conference was held on March 17th, 2022, while the winners of the 2022 Open, Mallory O’Brien and Saxon Panchik, were there as honorary members.
For the first time, all individual athletes in the men’s and women’s categories will get their share of the prize pool. For reference, only the top 20 competitors won money in the 2021 CrossFit Games. In addition, adaptive athletes will win money across 8 distinct divisions, as 5 more were added this year (Vision, Intellectual, Seated Without Hip Function, Seated With Hip Function, and Short Stature).

The total prize purse will increase by $330,000 from last year’s payout of $2.515 million, the largest increase in eight years. This also enabled them to award the top 10 finishers in the team’s division (four members in each team), as only the top 5 won money last year.

Individual Athletes
The 2022 Fittest Man and Woman On Earth® will earn $310,000. This is a ten thousand increase from last year. The total prize money for the individual division will be $1,949,000.

Adaptive Divisions
The total prize money for all men’s and women’s adaptive divisions is $160,000. This is also the inaugural year for 5 divisions.
Upper extremity, lower extremity, and neuromuscular

Vision, intellectual, seated without hip function, seated with hip function, short stature (new divisions)
- 1st place – $5,000

Individual Events
The total for individual events is estimated to be $156,000. However, this was based on the number of past year’s events, as the events for the 2022 CrossFit Games have not been revealed yet. This means that the total could vary.

With this year’s budget revealed, it is clear that CrossFit is becoming one of the most inclusive sports in the world. It is also nice to see that the athletes will be rewarded for all the pain, training, and dedication they have been through. However, the athletes first have to go through qualifiers, and only the top 10% of Open competitors have a secured place in the 2022 CrossFit Quarterfinals. It will take place from March 24th to April 24th, 2022, in an online format. Following the qualifying process, the 2022 CrossFit Games will take place from August 3-7, in Madison, Wisconsin.
